It did sprinkle last night but this morning the sun is out again. Washing and cleaning duties and poisoning the tree stump that we cut down. Cleaned the chainsaw and wrote Claude a note in French to go with a bottle of Pineau as a thank you for the loan. (thanks Google). Flashy is actually enjoying the gardening duties, not having done more than supervise tradies for the past 25 years! Thank God the lawnmower started first pull.

Claude is delighted and it appears that the note was actually readable. He also complimented Flashy on the very clean chainsaw returned.

Lady P made a number of phone calls to various family and friends and despite warnings from Flashy, left the gas on, boiling water for tea. Almost a melted saucepan. Goodness, a busted kettle now an empty gas bottle. As a result, he is using the Thermomix to boil water and make all sorts of stuff totally unfamiliar to us. Flashy thinks that an air fryer and Thermomix is all that the future will bring!

Packing for tomorrow’s trip to Bordeaux for the la Chaine des Rotisseurs Grande Chapiter. This is the ultimate, AGM and dinners/lunches over four days for the international conferiere de la Chaine des Rotisseurs. Great to be here. Fittings of dresses and suits confirm that the belly, hips, bust and other things still fit the number one’s we have carted from Australia or purchased en-route.

And to the gas. It has made the dinner of stir fry leftovers, but I can lift the bottle with my little finger. She is so lucky.

  Saturday 30 March 2024 – Easter Saturday An early start today as we head off to Doolin to catch the ferry to the Aran Islands. Everything working well; car - no problems; weather cold. No, very cold. The ferry departs on time and is very comfortable below decks. There are three islands in the Aran group. Little, middle and big island, named respectively Heer, Maan and More. We get off at the big island where there are four of pubs and some shops. There are a few ways of seeing the island. It’s 15 kms long, so Flashy did not suggest we walk it. The horse and cart option looked good but probably a bit cold. So, we decided on Pat Hernon’s Celtic Tours. A nice heated 19-seater with full commentary in a nice Irish accent to be sure.   2 January 2024 According to Lady P, the spending for the holiday only starts on 1 Jan, so if we ignore NYE Champagne, food and accommodation, we’re pretty much on budget for daily Euro 100. It rained for the first time of our visit last night and is still raining lightly this morning. May have to duck into Monoprix for a cheap umbrella before heading off to explore the west of Paris. We saw the temperatures in Helsinki this morning and as we will be there in a fortnight, the minus 12c and minus   19c being experienced gave us pause to reconsider additional layers that may be needed before we arrive rather than when we arrive there. Will have a look about at stores today. Talking about clothing and the weather, our puffer jackets are brilliant but not waterproof.   Friday 7 June 2024 Another at home day. Lady P mowed the lawns. Flashy put his feet up. Killed lots of flies and did nothing much else. Pizza for dinner from left over ingredients, but very delicious. Picking cherries from the tree Flashy supervising the lawn mowing. Tas and I met this guy, I'm sure on our trip. Not the PM.
