We
awoke to another glorious sunny day, putting a lie to the terrible things they
say about Ireland’s weather. So good was it, that Lady P headed off on a 6km
walk and flashy took his mid morning coffee outside in the sunshine. Layered up
a bit though, as it was still only 10C.
A
drive into Kinvarra to walk to the castle and a drink at the Pier Hotel was
interrupted by a phone call from the host, Gerry. “I’m at the house.” Well, we’re
at the pub! Anyway we drove home to meet Gerry and his wife and son and had a
great conversation. We agreed that the leprechauns were fiddling with the hot
water, as it comes and goes. The latter generally when we want a shower.
Then, back on the road to a little studio/gallery, that could have been Stewart’s, as a) it said open 7 days and was closed; and b) it allegedly had raku pottery. No worries, we’ll try again tomorrow.
Disappointed with my mackerel at Linnanes the other night, we decided to see
what was going on there as it was 3.00 pm and like Moran’s yesterday, we
figured it would be between lunch and dinner.
Well,
it was. Practically no one there. A shared (90:10 of course) half bottle of Alsace Riesling
with a dozen oysters in an empty bar, gave us a chance to see what the interior
was like. It would go off big time in the summer. Home to a G n T.
