Drove
to Barnstaple on the coast west of us in rain mostly but arrived in Barnstaple to
the Ebberley Pub for the night. A pint of London Pride and a gin and tonic
before we walked to a few other bars for drinks. Almost the start of a pub crawl.
We
found what was allegedly the best Indian restaurant in town and it was pretty
good.
For
those of you desperate for food photos, here are some of the last few days.

We had a full (almost) English breakfast in the pub for five quid, which was pretty good. Then we walked around in the rain, so Lady P could get her coffee fix, then to the opp shops looking for a dinner suit. Well you could tickle my arse with a feather, we found a very smart one for ten pounds. It may need some slight alteration in Dorking to accommodate Flashy’s sporting frame, but it is in excellent condition.
To top it off, we also got a couple of skivvies and a “muck about” polo top for Flashy to save the wear and tear on his good woolen jumper while chopping wood, carting coal, cooking meals etc. Then we drove to Goran Haven, a little seaside town near St Austell and Padstow in Cornwall.
Lady P had arranged a
really great house almost on the beach, through Air BnB, so once the fire was
set we went for a walk to discover the general store, where we purchased
cheese, clotted cream, a cheap bottle of Chilean plonk a large fresh chicken to
take home and roast.
Then we discovered that the little tent thingy beside the store was the Friday night bar. Well, as it had started raining, we had a pint of the local brew, then walked the short distance home.
The
fire glows. The gin is warming the body (as is the fire) and some photos follow.

Just to the right of the rear view mirror is Stonehenge. Just stuck in the middle of the paddock. Been there done that.
I went to Stonehenge in 1986 and again in 2014, I should have saved my 30 quid, it was still just a bunch of stones in the middle of a soggy paddock. (Apologies to any Druid's reading this blog) . Graeme
