Our time at Chapel House is soon coming to an end after 43 days here, so it’s a bit of cleaning and tidying up before we head to Kent o Sunday for a few days before Ireland. Our intention on our Seniors’ Gap Year, was to get half the time in free accommodation. This required Lady P to spend many hours researching (she loves it, though) to use our Home Exchange points and to House Sit. The latter usually involves looking after pets.

You would not believe the menagerie that some people have and expect a stranger to look after. How about 3 cats, 4 dogs, 6 lizards and a chook? Generally, we look for an old sleepy cat or dog that doesn’t need much attention. Cats particularly don’t need walking and shit where they are supposed to.

Anyway, having a look at the spreadsheet, I have discovered, that of the 91 days we will have been in Europe/UK (Jan, Feb and Mar), we have had 70 free days of accommodation (77%) and the average we have paid for the 21 days in hotels and BnB’s was €100 per night.

Lady P is, of course, delighted and rightly so. I did remind her that we spent quite a bit on Flashy’s birthday, but apparently this doesn’t count. It’s an ex-budget transaction. Bloody hell, I’ll have to set up a General Journal now. Where does this fit into the Balance Sheet? I’m not an accountant you know!

In Dorking for my BP pills now. I have a script from well… (not to say Flashy!) anyway I have been told to memorise the hospital name, doctor’s name and to say it was a private consultation. So, mysterious and just up Flashy’s alley, of course. At Boots the chemist, he has a mental block and just hands over the script. They whisper stuff out the back and comeback and sys, “Sorry, we don’t have any of that.” WTF!! Boots. The biggest chemist chain in the world! “Perhaps, sir you might try the other chemist in Dorking, just around the corner.”

Well, they were nice. Only has two months supply and asked no questions at all. The deal is that they will order the remainder in and we’ll comeback tomorrow for the lot. We will see, eh?

Ah, another 5 Crowns game by the fire this afternoon. Lady P is now 8 v 5. Gin time and a gourmet Greek chicken salad for dinner.

One match, of course. Our last open fire.
