We are out of the minuses today, cracked zero
and there’s light snow. They are predicting heavy snow later, so heading out
early and changing the puffer jacket for the wolf fur. A mixture of tram, Metro
and walking in the continuing hunt for some black trousers. Now, we didn’t find
any but we got a bow tie that matches the jacket, so, we are getting closer to
a complete outfit.
It's been zero all day with continuing light
snow and this turns to an icy layer where people have walked. Even the Finns
are complaining about the weather.
Across the road from our apartment is an indoor
collection of boutique shops, crafts, high end butcher, cafes and fishmongers, so
we headed in to get some fish.
We decided to have a light lunch in the café
owned by our fishmonger mate, whom we befriended last week. Smoked salmon,
herbs, and mayo piled on black bread and four very large oysters with a full
glass of Alsace Riesling and an Italian red were superb. Feeling replenished
and in a generous mood, we purchased some fresh Atlantic Salmon and some cold
smoked salmon for future use. Our mate played the Deli Game of calling the
weight before weighing it. He was pretty accurate too.
Lady P also bought some caviar and some cold
smoked reindeer slices. After a brief stop at the Alko (that’s what they call
their wine and spirits shops) and the supermarket, we are pretty well
provisioned and planning salmon soup, spiced baked salmon, possibly a leek and
potato soup, salmon salad and some marinated pork over the next few days..
Flashy reckons he’s never made, let alone
eaten, so much soup. And despite today’s spending, we have maintained a +2%
buffer on daily living budget. Might race out and get a cinnamon roll!
How do you guys go with all the layers when you are inside. Too many layers can be a pain when you can't take them off. I found I was always really hot inside. Sounds like it's warming up though.
