Home after a long day and I’m tempted to say – went to the Louvre, bought a coat. Came home. 13,000 steps.

It’s still showery and a bit chilly here at the moment but not unpleasant, unless you actually get wet through your old and not waterproof parker. But one mustn’t grumble. We headed off to Musée du Louvre via the Metro this morning, as Lady P had been given a private tour by her work mates on her retirement. So, we spent a couple of informative hours with a family from Melbourne and seven others from the US with a guide and access around the multitude of not so special people lining up in their hundreds, if not thousands to get in.

Desperate for a Champagne and a sit down after the tour, we braved the showery weather, found Café Blanc for a late lunch of onion soup, croque madam and two large coups of Champagne. Really friendly staff, happy to speak English and lovely overhead heaters to dry old Flashy out.

So desperate is he to replace his old parker with one that actually repels water, he almost spent 500€ at North Face. Lady P had to take heart meds I reckon. After some more adult suggestions, we went to H&M where Flashy gets a great waterproof parker for 80€. The old black one is now consigned to the bin.

Home on the Metro for a gin and tonic.
